We reveal to the places where you should climb to enjoy a wonderful view yourself.
Picture 1 - A small church dedicated to Saint Mary Major above Goče.
The easiest path to climb to it is from the village of Goče. It is accessible both by car and by foot. It is only a 20-minute walk on a well-maintained macadam road from the village to the church.
Picture 2 - Castle above the village of Lože.
Above the village of Lože stands Lože Castle, or the so-called Cobenzl Mansion. Residents of Lože last year hosted the first celebration of St. Martin's Day in the castle cellar. A short, well-maintained macadam road takes you from the village to the castle.
Picture 3 - Guerila Estate on Planina.
Guerila Estate stands on Planina above Ajdovščina. You can access the wine cellar from the Erzelj side or from Ajdovščina. While enjoying a unique view, you can also try a glass of wine at the estate.
Picture 4 - Nanos, the Church of St. Jerome in the foreground.
Nanos is a mighty plateau that stretches above Vipava. It is a paradise for hikers, cyclists, paragliders, as well as bikers. Several paths lead to the Church of St. Jerome. Here is a link: https://www.hribi.net/gora/sveti_hieronim/26/1409
Picture 5 - Old Castle above Vipava.
Old Castle stands on a small hil north-east of Vipava. An easy, marked path leads from the town centre to the top. It is only a 20-minute walk.
Picture 6 - The Cross of Theodosius above the village of Vrhpolje
In 1994, the Cross of Theodosius was erected over the village of Vrhpolje in memory of the events from 1,600 years ago, when a battle between the Roman emperors Theodosius and Eugenius is said to have taken place nearby. The cross is located on the main road Vrhpolje - Sanabor. It is only a few metres above Theodosius Inn.
Picture 7 - Zemono Manor House in the village of Zemono.
The Gostilna pri Lojzetu restaurant is located in the manor house under the baton of master chef Tomaž Kavčič. Zemono Manor is only a few minutes' ride from the town of Vipava (the easiest access is from the Vipava - Ajdovščina main road).
Visit Vipava, climb some of the scenic viewpoints and enjoy a magnificent view.
