Wine production in the Lavrenčič family goes back a long way in history. According to the ancestors, winemaking and cellaring were practiced about 150 years ago. A living proof that we still keep today is the wooden door of an old wooden barrel, engraved with the year of manufacture, in 1913. The story begins in Vrhpolje, at the homestead of the Lavrenčič family, when Anton Lavrenčič (Bojan's great-grandfather) began winemaking in large wooden barrels. He started with the Rebula, Pinela and Malvasia varieties, mainly for home use. The quantities produced by Anton Lavrenčič I were small, but large and good enough to attract his son Anton Lavrenčič II to winemaking and cellaring. Anton Lavrenčič II accepted this kind of work with open arms, and at the same time increased the area and thus cultivated up to 10,000 vines. In addition, he and his family grafted cane grafts (the yield was about 5,000 grafts a year), which were later sold throughout Slovenia. The story continued in the second half of the 20th century, when due to the early death of his father, Anton Lavrenčič III (Bojan's father) was forced to take over the work on the farm. He accepted the family tradition of winemaking at the homestead with great joy, and further expanded the capacity to 13,000 vines, with two new species, Zelen and Merlot. His Merlot was one of the first in the Vipava Valley. And so the tradition continued through years of work and experience, until the rich legacy of the three Antons was taken over by Bojan Lavrenčič and he began to build a completely new story, a story based on the heritage and foundations of his ancestors.
