A paradise for sport fishing
The Vipava Valley is a true paradise for sport fishing. Fishing in the pristine nature of the Vipava River, which begins its course in the town of Vipava and winds its way through the Vipava Valley for 49 kilometres. The river provides for various types of fishing. Fly anglers are fascinated by large specimens of the marble trout with a beautiful marbled pattern. The grayling, river trout and rainbow trout also a common catch for fly anglers. Those who like spin fishing can try their luck fishing for the pike, trout or large specimens of the catfish. In addition to the listed fish species, float fishing for the feisty river carp, barbel, chub, nase and tench is also possible in the Vipava River.

In addition to the Vipava River, fishing in the Vipava Valley is also possible in other bodies of water. The largest among them is Lake Vogršček. Vogršček is a reservoir that is approximately 4 km long, located near Šempas. It was created in 1988 for the purpose of irrigation of the Vipava Valley and protection from high water levels. Due to the good conditions (higher temperature) and constant investment, the lake is full of large and feisty fish. Carp fishing and spin fishing of predatory fish is permitted.
